Consultancy and Cloud Services (SaaS, PaaS and IaaS) for companies and PAs

We resell and support Microsoft cloud solutions such as Office 365 and Azure, and we can integrate many options with company-specific verticalisations with added value.

What are Cloud services and what are they used for?

The Cloud allows you to use productivity applications and tools without the need for either installations or computing power. All you need is a device (anything from a smartphone to a laptop) and an Internet connection to perform the desired operations and communicate and/or share the results even in real time not only with collaborators who have access to the corporate “cloud”, but also with customers, suppliers and other actors who participate in the value chain of the business.

Cloud Computing is divided into three main categories of services: SaaS, PaaS and IaaS. Some providers combine these services and others offer them as separate ones.

TECHNICAL SERVICES:

  • Consultancy in SaaS, PaaS and IaaS Services
  • Provision of Applications in SaaS mode
  • Provision of Cloud Platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure)
  • Supply of Virtual Servers with custom configurations

The Cloud is a real accelerator and an incentive towards Technological Innovation: using Cloud Computing to create new IT services allows companies not only to cut down on costs with the pay-per-use model, but also to significantly reduce the business risk.
This allows them to develop and test, in a simpler way and on a smaller scale, new solutions that can then also be abandoned, with minimal costs and losses.

THE BENEFITS OF CLOUD SERVICES AT THE BUSINESS LEVEL

FLEXIBILITY

A robust cloud infrastructure allows users to tailor services to their needs, customise applications and access cloud services from anywhere with an Internet connection.

LOW INVESTMENT COST

You do not need to buy, install, manage and dispose of hardware and software. You simply need an internet connection to access online services which you pay for only when you actually use them (pay per use). This also allows small and medium-sized enterprises to have access to the latest technologies and become more competitive.

SPEED

The IT personnel will be able to access the purchased services in very little time and with much greater freedom.

ALWAYS UPDATED

With the cloud, there is no risk of causing an application to collapse simply by installing an update, because the cloud service providers handle its maintenance, security and troubleshooting, saving your company the time and hassle.

PROTECTION & SECURITY

Saving data in the cloud means storing it in a system that is not continuously used to browse, access services and connect to networks, and is therefore less exposed to cyber risks and threats. In addition, the security system is more efficient as firewalls, backup systems and antivirus protection are managed by highly qualified personnel who are experts in the field.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY

Implementing the cloud means adopting sustainable solutions with minimal environmental impact. If the server is no longer local, the company does not need to equip itself with a machine that consumes energy, thus reducing energy consumption and costs by 30%. (The data centres of providers are power-optimised).

Types of Cloud Computing (Saas, PaaS and IaaS)

Cloud Computing is divided into three main categories of services: SaaS, PaaS and IaaS. Some providers combine these services and others offer them as separate ones.

Saas

With Software as a Service (SaaS), the customer company can use applications and software systems from any type of device (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.) and anywhere, without downloading or installing any type of file, but simply using an internet connection and a web browser.

Common examples are e-mail, calendars, and productivity tools, such as Microsoft Office 365, but also more specific, custom applications provided by specialised companies. The services offered do not require any maintenance or updating, as this is all handled by the provider.

PaaS

With Platforms as a Service (PaaS), companies can rent a virtual platform on which they can develop, test and manage business applications without the costs and complexities associated with purchasing, configuring, optimising and managing the basic hardware and software needed for development activities.

PaaS is in fact a service specifically for developers and software companies that want to create and release new programs or apps quickly and easily without the hassle of dealing with infrastructure.

IaaS

With Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), the company can use a “virtual machine” (Cloud Computing infrastructure) made available by the provider, which includes servers, the network, operating systems and storage. In this way, the company no longer has any need to own the infrastructure and maintain it, but rents the amount of space, CPU and RAM according to its needs. It can configure the “virtual machine” and install operating systems and software on it exactly as on a proprietary infrastructure, but with the great advantage of no longer having to worry about any aspect related to the physical possession of equipment: the company only has to handle operation of the software.

This type is specifically for system administrators or system operators, who do not physically manage the structure but handle the instances to be activated, the characteristics of the network, and the resources to be used.

Software as a Service

BENEFITS

  • Lower costs of licensing, managing and installing updates: companies pay per use rather than lump sums. This allows for better control of expenses;
  • Rapid commissioning and immediate provision of services and applications;
  • Easy integration of new collaborators: it is no longer necessary to issue licenses to new collaborators or install software, because only registration with the online tool is required. This means it is much easier to integrate new collaborators, who can start their work in less time;
  • Reduction of the workload of employees, in particular of the IT team that will no longer have to handle the installation of software, licences, updates and maintenance, and can instead focus on other activities that are equally important for the company;
  • Use of mobile services and access to data from anywhere: users can use the applications provided and access the data of an app or of other systems even when they are not in the office. This also greatly simplifies the concept of smart working.
  • Increased data security: the cloud architecture stores data remotely on the cloud server, minimising their loss due to local hardware and software problems;
  • Software/applications always updated: since the software is run by the provider, the latter also assumes responsibility for its management. In this way the user can be sure to always use the latest version of the services.

When to use the SaaS service

  1. Do you want to introduce a CRM to the company without purchasing the software, a server, etc.?
  2. Do you need a collaboration system like Microsoft Teams for all your employees?
  3. Do you need to manage certain things, such as invoices, e-mail correspondence and documents of various kinds?

These questions can be answered with the successful implementation of SaaS cloud services.

Focus Informatica provides its own applications or those of partners and suppliers as a SaaS service and handles their management, maintenance and updating, ensuring the availability and security of the app and data.

Platform as a service (PaaS)

BENEFITS

  • Faster development of applications: PaaS development tools help reduce the time it takes to write code for new apps, thanks to pre-coded components integrated in the platform. This also means less work for the IT personnel and therefore lower start-up and maintenance costs.
  • Scalability: performance is scalable as the required capabilities can be expanded or decreased at will;
  • Reduction of costs: the company will not have to incur costs for the construction of the infrastructure and will not even have to carry out maintenance and updates or purchase new software licences, as the same supplier will take care of the infrastructure.
  • Greater simplicity of development for multiple platforms, including mobile devices. Some service providers offer the option of development for multiple platforms, such as computers, mobile devices, and browsers, making the development of cross-platform apps faster and easier.

When to use the PaaS service

  1. Are you a software house and do you need an environment to support the complete lifecycle of the Web applications – creation, testing, deployment, management and updating – within the same integrated environment?
  2. Do you provide cloud infrastructures and do you also want to manage them on behalf of your customers, so as to provide them with the necessary means to develop and release applications?

These questions can be answered with the successful implementation of PaaS cloud services.

Focus Informatica, with partners such as Microsoft, offers advice on PaaS services and provides cloud platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure).

Infrastructure as a service (IaaS)

BENEFITS

  • Ability to use high-performance hardware, without resorting to local resources: all devices, including mobile ones, can connect through the web to the virtualised infrastructure and also run applications that require considerable computing resources. Third-party providers, in fact, host hardware, servers, storage devices and other components that are part of the entire cloud infrastructure, on behalf of companies.
  • Savings in terms of both money and time: the IT department of your company can focus on developing solutions for the growth of the business, without the hassle of other operations such as the maintenance of hardware equipment.
  • Scalability of resources: the resources can be adjusted at the customer’s request, a very important factor for companies that often have to deal with temporary or changing workloads over time. Companies can upgrade or downgrade resources such as CPUs, storage space, RAM and so on, depending on current needs.
  • Pay per use: another advantage of IaaS cloud computing is the ability to pay only and exclusively for the resources used. This allows companies to calculate their budget for the resources needed to develop and design applications, without having to pay a lot for resources which then go unused.
  • Speed of innovation: when launching a new product or initiative, the necessary computing infrastructure can be ready in minutes or hours, rather than days or weeks, and sometimes months, as happens when everything is configured internally.

When to use the IaaS service

  1. Do you need to release applications that you have in a cloud environment?
  2. Do you need a virtual server as soon as possible?
  3. Do you need terabytes of space?

These questions can be answered with the successful implementation of IaaS cloud services.

Focus Informatica, with partners such as Microsoft, offers advice on IaaS Services and provides virtual servers tailored to the customer’s needs.
